What's a Grow Group

Everyone needs friends. It’s pretty natural to want to share life with others who will be loyal and supportive. At Gateway we “grow” spiritually encouraging relationships within small gatherings called Grow Groups.

Grow Groups are an essential part of life at Gateway. Jesus implores his followers to excel at loving others. While we thoroughly enjoy gathering together to praise God, our worship services are too big to develop the closest relationships. We all need a smaller group of friends to love and share life together. So our goal is to connect everyone at Gateway in Grow Groups in a way that builds deep relationships so that we fulfill God’s command to love one another. In our groups we stress these important values:

Authenticity - The atmosphere of a group should encourage openness and transparency among members.

Confidentiality - For authenticity to occur we must be able to trust each other.

Respect - We respect an individual’s right to ask questions and hold their own opinion.

Affirmation - We want to create an atmosphere where we affirm and encourage one another, build each other up in Christ and help each other follow him.

Availability - A primary responsibility of community is to make relationships a priority in life. This requires a willingness to be available to meet each other’s needs. We determine to care for every member of our group.
